khwanchanok nielsen

Khwanchanok Nielsen, a graduate of the Aarhus School of Architecture (Aarhus, Denmark), is the 2017 Kompas Fellow. Originally from Bangkok, Thailand, she has lived in Denmark with her family since her early teens.

During her term as a Fellow, Khwanchanok intends to explore design concepts for social housing that create a living community. Using multi-functional, easily convertible, and adjustable living areas, she plans to formulate design approaches that consist of many small common areas where residents meet up and interact. Contributing to Myefski Architects’ many residential housing design projects will help to support Khwanchanok's research during her tenure as Architectural Intern.

Khwanchanok feels inspired everywhere, but Copenhagen is her favorite city. She describes Copenhagen as a perfect combination of traditional and modern architecture. Khwanchanok is especially fond of the wintergarden at Glyptoteket - the perfect place to appreciate the outdoors from inside.
