FIE KROGH SOMMER

A graduate of the Aarhus School of Architecture (Aarhus, Denmark), Fie Krogh Sommer is one of two 2022 Kompas Fellows. While rooted in Denmark, Fie has spent time living in Munich (Germany), Sonoma County (California, USA), and—most recently—in Glasgow (Scotland). Bolstering her academic achievements in architecture and travel experiences, Fie’s interest in the psychological process and design culture will also be put to practice during her time at Myefski Architects.

Through her research as a Kompas Fellow, Fie intends to demonstrate how people use their surroundings to identify themselves and others as societies and as individuals. This approach involves articulating how the built environment communicates and impacts culture and daily lives.

Fie plans to explore the aesthetics of Chicago, researching historical and contemporary structures to develop a template for the city’s identity, scales, and typologies. From this Fie will determine connections between these attributes and the role they play in creating enjoyable living environments.
